The Borofka Family Fund, established by Tara and Jason Borofka and many other generous donors is a current use fund to support TPI Deficiency Research being conducted in Michael Palladino, PhD lab at the university. Dr. Palladino’s goal is to find new treatments as well as a cure for children who have TPI Deficiency.

4/25/19 – At this time, there is no cure but my doctors are coming up with new ideas and experimental treatments. For example, I am currently taking a mitochondrial cocktail of supplements that are geared at one possible component of the disorder, which is oxidative stress.

  • My doctors have also suggested I start the Ketogenic Diet
  • There is a chance a Bone Marrow or Stem Cell Transplant could help however, this is an extremely invasive procedure and we are not sure yet if the benefits outweigh the risk.
  • The other possible treatment that doctors think may help prolong my life is Enzyme Therapy
